Impact Inside Welcomes Chris Belden as New Chief Product and Technology Officer
On November 12, 2024, Impact Inside, a leading SaaS Voluntary Carbon Market (VCM) project design, management, and storytelling solution, announced the appointment of Chris Belden as its new Chief Product and Technology Officer. Belden is responsible for delivering new product features while ensuring adherence to strict standards of security, compliance, and best practices in modern product development, helping build an industry solution that empowers project proponents and investors to deliver higher-quality projects, maximizing their projects’ crediting potential while minimizing risk.
About Chris Belden
Chris has been designing, building, and launching successful digital products for more than 16 years. His expertise spans product strategy, design, and development, across multiple industries and markets. Prior to Impact Inside, Chris held senior leadership roles at NBC Sports Next, where he led product & technology across a portfolio of software products used by millions of administrators, coaches and athletes across North America and Europe. Chris has also held key leadership roles across companies of all sizes driving conversion improvements, digital transformations, product adoption, and overall product portfolio growth.
With a proven ability to build products from conception to execution, Belden brings the talent and leadership needed to help Impact Inside become the world’s indispensable signal of NbS project quality. “I love the journey of building great software. It’s a continuous flow of creativity, attention to detail, and massive amounts of problem solving.”
Belden joins the company ready to contribute to its core values of hard work and mission. “When I met the team at Impact Inside, I could see a group of people not afraid to tackle tough challenges who wanted to make a difference in NbS projects. Being able to combine my passions for software and the outdoors while tackling some big challenges in the carbon space really drew me to the opportunity.” With additive experience for what it takes to build a quality software product, Belden will lead and ensure smart data collection technology further simplifies end to end measurement, reporting, documentation, and storytelling for project proponents, while optimizing project crediting potential.
Married with 3 kids and a dog that keeps them very busy, Belden enjoys being outside, with some of their greatest memories stemming from hiking, camping, and traveling. This past summer, they went on a family road trip from Minnesota to Maine and back down to Mammoth Caves in KY before returning home. “It was a great reminder of what it means to slow down, enjoy time together, and ignite a sense of exploration.” Belden also spends time woodworking and last year he fulfilled a life-long desire and built himself a hobby workshop on the side of their house. “It’s filled with all my tools, new workbenches I built, and a mini fridge to keep me nourished and hydrated when I’m listening to music and making sawdust. It’s definitely one of my happy places.”
Looking Ahead
Belden will be working alongside the teams delivering new product features while ensuring adherence to strict standards of security, compliance, and best practices in modern product development. “I’ve been very fortunate to have worked with some amazingly talented individuals throughout my career and will continue to find ways to leverage that experience for Impact Inside, either directly as we grow the team or through partnerships.” With a fully enrolled Alpha program made up of 10 project proponents, and now an open invite for Beta participants, Belden will continue to lead the roadmap for a production release and full product launch by the end of 2025.
“This year we’ll be focused on growing the team, expanding our product offering, and engaging with our partners.” Belden and the team at Impact Inside envision “big strides in available features including data management, reporting and AI-driven enhancements” and continuing to “polish user experience and push hard on making it easy for customers to maximize efficiency and quality in their projects.”
